A man who shot at police and officers at his home was charged with attempted murder after they fired at him and police used pepper spray to subdue him, authorities said.
The man, identified as John C. Clements Jr., 26, was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound, a Florida sheriff’s office spokesman said.
The sheriff’s statement said officers found Clements “in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds.”
The shooting took place early Sunday morning in the 800 block of South Winton Road in Orlando, Fla.
A search of Clements’ home turned up a shotgun, a handgun and ammunition, according to the statement.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI all assisted the sheriff’s department in its investigation, the sheriff said in the statement posted on the department’s website.
It was unclear if the incident was an act of domestic violence or if Clements had other weapons.
The FBI is assisting the sheriff in his investigation.
